This bar, also known as the West Side Six, started to book bands like The Rockets and Salem Witchcraft in the early/mid-1970s and shifted to punk/new wave acts by mid-1979 due to the efforts of bands like R.U.R. to find another venue to play beyond Bookie’s.  The scene changed again by 1981 as the Silver Bird started to book more straight ahead rock and metal acts including the notable Detroit band Seduce.

  1. I remember Halloween 1980. Sir Graves Ghastly was the judge for the best costume. I freaked him out when I got on stage as he called people up. I had filled my mouth with a bottle of fake blood and when he asked me what I was, I showed him. The band for the night was Strutter.
